ST NICK INVITATIONAL RULES
KHSAA Rules are followed
NEW in 2020: Club teams welcome! Club teams will be put in their own division, separate from school teams.
Size 28.5” ball used for all grades
6th-8th grade boys may use 29.5” if agreed by both teams
LENGTH OF GAME:
(2) 18-minute halves with running clock (stop clock in the last 2-minutes of 2nd half). Clock will stop for injuries. Halftime is 2 minutes. Officials may enforce a running clock in last 2 minutes of 2nd half if game is running behind, ONLY if there is a notable score difference.
3 GAME GUARANTEE:
Teams are placed in divisions based on grade and skill level chosen.
START OF GAME:
Coaches and players should be on site 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
TIMEOUTS:
Each team gets (2) 30-second timeouts per half; (1) 30-second timeout in OT.
OVERTIME:
OT is 1-minute. If game ends in tie, there will be a jump ball for possession and first team to score wins (sudden death).
FREE THROW LINE:
Step ins are allowed for 3rd-4th grade or at Official’s best judgement. Regulation line used for 5th-8th grade.
PERSONAL FOULS:
Personal fouls will be set at 5 per game. Officials may sit a player for unsportsmanlike conduct.
DEFENSE:
3rd and 4th, Man to Man only (double teaming the ball is allowed below the foul line)
5th-8th, Man-to-Man defense and Zone defense will both be allowed.
FULL COURT PRESS:
The team that is ahead cannot press if up 20+ points – MERCY RULE!
3rd/4th grade can only press in the 2nd half with <8 minutes
UNIFORMS:
Home team (1st team listed on schedule) should wear white/light jersey and is responsible for changing if color conflicts with opponent. Pinnies are acceptable.
OFFICIALS:
Officials and Scorekeepers are to be treated with respect from all coaches, parents, and players at all times.
FOULS / CONDUCT:
Two technical fouls in 1 game by either a coach or player will result in ejection plus suspension from the next game. All suspensions or controversies will be handled by T&C Management. Coaches are held responsible for his/her players, parents, fans, and the care of facilities. Teams are responsible for cleaning the bench!
TEAM ADVANCEMENT:
Most wins; Tiebreaker as follows: 1) Head to head, 2) Fewest points allowed, 3) Most points scored, 4) Coin flip
DAILY ADMISSION:
$4/adults and $2 students/seniors. Coaches, players, and children under 5 are free.
